FEEDING THE GEESE and A VISIT TO THE CHATTAHOOCHEE NATURE CENTER

Took a loaf of bread to the Chattahoochee River to feed the geese.

Then visited the Chattahoochee Nature Center to check out the Butterfly Gardens and walk the river boardwalk.

Using sponge paint brushes is a great way to look at a butterfly up close, but not touch the wings.

LURAY CAVERNS, VA

No better place to be on a hot summer day than under the ground, deep in a series of caverns!!
Founded in 1878, the largest caverns in the East!!

The above is Dream Lake.
The largest body of water in the cavern.  It reflects the forms and creates a mirror image of the stalagtites hanging from the ceiling.
Millions of years in the making and
still actively growing.

This double column is 47 feet tall and one of the most spectacular formations in the caverns.  This column is a classic example of the formation of a stalactite and stalagmite coming together as one.

Breakfast anyone??
Actually, this is what happens when people touch and rub a stalagmite through the years!!
It was an easy walk, good paths, plenty of railings, very comfortable and our guide was excellent!!

TUNES from the TOMBS!

Atlanta's Historic OAKLAND CEMETERY
Oakland Cemetery is an example of of the rural garden type cemeteries in the 19th century.
Featuring winding paths, large shade trees, flowers and shrubs.
Baby Girl
A magnolia tree root system.
We even have "family" resting in Oakland Cemetery.

In the late 19th century, Oakland was a popular
destination for Sunday carriage rides and picnics.  Families tended the plots of loved ones creating an assortment of lovely gardens.

This is the oldest Jewish Cemetery
in Atlanta started in 1860.
Saturday in the Park . . . . .

A day of music and spirits benefiting Historic Oakland Cemetery!
