BIG BASIN REDWOODS STATE PARK

The Redwood Trail passes by some of the biggest, most interesting and most significant coast redwood trees in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Tree Burls are a common sight throughout the coast redwood forests. Burlwood consists of masses of dormant buds. The burls around the trunk of this tree, is called the animal or zoo tree since some resemble animals.

Redwoods are able to resist many of the effects of fire, but they are not always able to survive.

This awesome old tree is estimated to be 2,000 years old.
Such a unique visit and experience!!
