Another "Rainy Day in Georgia,"
but we needed to get out so we drove to the North Ga. Mountains.
We were driving on the back road of 382 looking for Carter's Lake, south of Ellijay when we saw these gates and ventured inside.
There were pastures with horses, donkeys, mules, calves, sheep, goats, alpacas, ducks, geese and pot belly pigs - all together.
At the end of the long fenced driveway was this
lovely, large red barn.
The drizzling rain started pouring as we went inside the Big Red Barn.
In April 2011, a tornado hit North Georgia and destroyed the barn that once stood here.
Miraculously, the owner and 2 volunteers survived, along with ALL the animals.
A group from NY came down and rebuilt this barn -
in one week.
Our greeters were "The Three Little Pigs!"
Curly, Larry and Moe.
Larry hogged all the attention.
A little scratch here;
now a little scratch right there behind the ear.
A donkey blind since birth.
Three orphaned fawns.
Rain, Rain - Go Away!
Inside every stall is a story.
Inside every stall,
they need a scratch and a helping hand.
Thank you Sweetheart!
A stall full of grown up, unwanted Easter Bunnies.
This animal rescue had doves, chickens, roosters, kittens, cats, puppies, pigs, and even a hurt vulture.
Miss Piggy was at the front door when we arrived
and she was still rooting around when we left.
Another sweetie that likes her ears scratched!
